Pokemon booster box dimensions and weight guide

Check Pokemon booster box dimensions and weight, compare protector sizes, plan shelf or parcel space, and avoid buying the wrong case.

Read how the numbers are built

Pokemon booster box dimensions are not one fixed standard across every era and language. A Pokemon product sheet lists the English Sun & Moon Guardians Rising 36-pack display at 13.3 x 12.1 x 7.5 cm and 0.80 kg after metric conversion. Treat that as one verified example, not a size for every booster box.

Measure the exact sealed box before buying a rigid protector or planning a parcel. Current protector makers publish inner sizes near 14.0 x 12.5 x 7.8 cm, but those measurements describe the available case space, not the outer size of every box that may fit.

What are Pokemon booster box dimensions?

The English Sun & Moon Guardians Rising booster display is one documented example. A Pokemon product sheet lists it at 4 3/4 inches high, 5 1/4 inches wide, and 2 15/16 inches deep. It also lists a weight of 1.76 pounds.

Converted and rounded, that is 12.1 cm high, 13.3 cm wide, 7.5 cm deep, and 0.80 kg.

The sheet dates from 2017. It proves the size of that named product, not a permanent Pokemon TCG packaging rule. The dimensions are useful for a historical reference and for checking whether a seller's numbers are plausible.

Why Pokemon booster box sizes differ

"Booster box" and "booster display" often name the same 36-pack English product, but that does not make every box physically identical. Packaging can change between eras, languages, and product formats. A booster bundle, half booster box, and Japanese booster box are separate products even when a seller uses similar wording.

Protector makers also disagree about their fit ranges. Safegaard says its current case fits modern boxes from XY through Mega Evolution. Platinum Protectors describes its case as a modern English fit but excludes XY and older eras. Those claims come from the case makers, not Pokemon, so check the exact release instead of choosing one claim to cover every box.

Use the expansion, language, product code, and barcode when comparing measurements. A box name without those details is not enough for a close fit.

What size protector fits a Pokemon booster box?

A protector fits only when each internal dimension is larger than the matching outer box dimension. Total volume is not enough. A case can have more volume and still be too narrow on one side.

The table below puts each maker's internal dimensions in largest-to-smallest order because the source pages label their axes differently.

Protector sourceClaimed fitInternal dimensions
Ultra PROMost standard Pokemon booster boxes14.00 x 12.58 x 7.83 cm
SafegaardModern boxes from XY to Mega Evolution14.10 x 12.50 x 7.85 cm
Platinum ProtectorsModern English boxes, with older exclusions13.69 x 12.40 x 7.75 cm

These figures set an upper fit limit. They do not establish a standard box size. Ultra PRO also tells buyers to confirm their box dimensions before purchase.

Use this formula on all three sides:

total clearance = protector internal dimension - measured box dimension

Suppose your own box measures 13.7 x 12.3 x 7.6 cm. The Ultra PRO case would leave 3.0 mm, 2.8 mm, and 2.3 mm of total clearance across the three matching sides after rounding.

SideCase interiorMeasured boxTotal clearance
Long side14.00 cm13.70 cm3.0 mm
Middle side12.58 cm12.30 cm2.8 mm
Short side7.83 cm7.60 cm2.3 mm

That is a worked example, not a measured retail box. If any result is zero or negative, the protector is too small. A small positive result can still be too tight around a wrap seam, so follow the maker's fit advice and return terms.

How much does a Pokemon booster box weigh?

The Guardians Rising booster display weighs about 0.80 kg in the cited product sheet. Do not use that number as a current universal weight. Card stock, wrappers, inserts, and the outer box may differ between releases.

A parcel weighs more than the retail box. The carton, padding, label, moisture barrier, and protector all add weight. Put the complete packed order on a scale before buying postage.

Weight cannot prove that a sealed booster box is genuine or complete. A copied shipping weight may refer to a carton rather than the item, and two scales may not agree exactly. Use the sealed product condition guide for wrap and box checks. The booster pack weighing guide explains why weight needs tight product-specific evidence.

How to measure a Pokemon booster box

Measure the retail product in the condition you plan to store or ship it. Keep the factory wrap in place and do not press it flat.

  1. Put the box on a level surface.
  2. Measure the longest horizontal side at its widest point.
  3. Measure from the base to the highest point.
  4. Measure the remaining side through its widest point.
  5. Repeat each measurement in millimetres.
  6. Weigh the complete sealed box in kilograms.
  7. Record the expansion, language, barcode, and whether the box is standard or enhanced.

For a protector, compare your three measurements with the case's internal dimensions. For a parcel, add padding space to every side and use the courier's current size and weight rules.

Plan shelf and parcel space

Shelf planning needs the side that will run along the shelf:

whole boxes per row = floor(usable shelf width / box side)

Using the worked 13.7 x 12.3 x 7.6 cm box, an 80 cm shelf holds 5 front-facing boxes along the 13.7 cm side. They use 68.5 cm and leave 11.5 cm before gaps. Turned side-on, 10 boxes use 76 cm and leave 4 cm.

Shelf planCalculationWhole boxesSpace left
Front-facing80 / 13.7511.5 cm
Side-on80 / 7.6104.0 cm

The same example box has a volume of about 1.28 litres:

13.7 x 12.3 x 7.6 = 1,280.7 cubic centimetres

If a teaching parcel adds 2 cm of padding on every side, each box dimension grows by 4 cm. The result is about 3.35 litres:

17.7 x 16.3 x 11.6 = 3,345.5 cubic centimetres

These are planning figures. Padding compresses, protectors add their own thickness, and couriers may charge by different size bands. Measure the finished parcel before paying.

The booster box case guide covers the usual six-box carton count and per-box buying decision. It does not make one carton size universal.

Compare the box, protector, and delivery cost

PokeCompare tracks sealed booster box offers, not the dimensions of every listing or the price of a protector. Start with live booster box prices, then confirm the language, version, delivery, and final total with the seller.

Use one basket total when you need both items:

delivered setup cost = box + protector + delivery + payment fees

This example uses teaching prices, not current market quotes.

OfferBooster boxProtectorDelivery and feesDelivered setup cost
Shop A138.00 EUR19.00 EUR8.50 EUR165.50 EUR
Shop B145.00 EUR18.00 EUR0 EUR163.00 EUR

Shop A lists the box for 7 EUR less, but Shop B costs 2.50 EUR less for the full setup. Your Europe says EU traders must show the total price, including taxes and extra charges, before payment. Use the seller checkout for that total.

Common size and weight mistakes

  • Using a protector's internal size as the exact box size.
  • Matching total volume while one side is too short.
  • Assuming an English, Japanese, modern, and vintage box share one format.
  • Comparing a retail item weight with a packed shipping weight.
  • Treating a close weight as proof of authenticity.
  • Buying a case before checking the expansion, language, and barcode.

For a costly box, keep the seller's measurement, listing, and parcel photos. If the item arrives crushed or the wrap differs from the listing, those records make the condition problem easier to show.

Sources and update policy

The Pokemon Guardians Rising product sheet, hosted by Best Buy, provides the named 36-pack display dimensions and weight. The metric figures in this guide use 2.54 cm per inch and 0.453592 kg per pound, then round to one or two decimal places.

Ultra PRO publishes the inner dimensions for its licensed Pokemon booster box display and tells buyers to check their box first. Safegaard lists its booster box case dimensions and claimed era fit. Platinum Protectors states the inside dimensions and older-era exclusions for its modern English case.

The European Union's Your Europe service explains total price and extra-charge rules.

FAQ

What are the dimensions of a Pokemon booster box?

One Pokemon product sheet lists the English Guardians Rising 36-pack display at 13.3 x 12.1 x 7.5 cm after conversion. That is a named 2017 example, not a universal size. Measure the exact expansion and language before buying a rigid protector.

How much does a Pokemon booster box weigh?

The same Guardians Rising product sheet lists 1.76 pounds, which rounds to 0.80 kg. Other releases may differ. A shipping weight can also include the carton, padding, and protector, so weigh the finished parcel instead of copying one retail product figure.

What size protector fits a Pokemon booster box?

The protector's internal width, height, and depth must each exceed your measured box dimensions. Current makers list inner spaces near 14.0 x 12.5 x 7.8 cm, but fit claims differ by era. Check all three sides, wrap seams, and the maker's compatibility note.

Are all English Pokemon booster boxes the same size?

Do not assume so. The sources reviewed do not publish one outer-size standard for every English release. Protector makers also give different era limits. Match the expansion, language, product code, and barcode, then measure the sealed box when the fit needs to be close.

How many booster boxes fit on an 80 cm shelf?

It depends on box direction and gaps. In the worked example, five boxes fit front-facing along a 13.7 cm side, while ten fit side-on along a 7.6 cm side. Measure your boxes and usable shelf width, divide, then round down to a whole number.

Can booster box weight prove that it is sealed?

No. Weight alone cannot prove authenticity, an untouched seal, or complete contents. Product versions, packaging, scales, and shipping materials can change the result. Check the wrap, print, corners, seller history, barcode, and purchase record together before trusting a costly sealed box.

Pokemon booster box dimensions are product-specific. Use the Guardians Rising figures as one documented reference, then measure the exact box before buying a protector, filling a shelf, or paying for delivery. Compare the complete EUR setup cost only after the fit is confirmed.
